I have a friend who is going to celebrate her 31^st birthday in a little over a week. My wife is not the best cook in the world. Now she is not the worst cook but definitely has room for improvement. I was so exited to get a cooking channel when we went to http://www.cannonsatellite.com/ and signed up for Direct TV. She loves watching the cooking shows on there and taking notes on how to become a better cook. Some of the things that they make on these shows are to die for. She has recently become addicted to this reality show where they pick ten people who are aspiring chefs. These people have to compete in various challenges in which they are given a certain amount of time to prepare a specific meal. The judges then sample their dish critique and provide feedback on how it tasted. Some of the stuff that they make I have never even heard of. The portion sizes of these dishes are so tiny that I believe one would starve to death if this was all they had to eat. I guess that is how it is done when you are creating fine cuisines though.

Healthcare Insurance

Every month when I receive husbee's paycheck, I always check what the changes are and I noticed that the health care costs continue to rise. One day, I told husbee maybe we should just cancel our healthcare insurance so we can get more money every month hahaha but he disagreed to my opinion because according to him we'll never know when we need it. He said medical insurance is really important because if we do not have coverage, the high cost of medical bills will be solely our responsibility. He made such a good point so since then I haven't bothered him about our insurance, I just input the amount in the QuickBooks every time I get his paycheck :)

Because of the economic crisis, unfortunately a lot of people don't have healthcare insurance nowadays. It's either they loss their job or they just stop paying for their insurance because people are finding it difficult to keep sufficient coverage at a cost they can afford and possibly they just don’t know where to find the best health insurance quotes. Weekend Getaway

Today is my chillaxing day after husbee and I weekend getaway in Lake Tahoe. Well, it was a last minute weekend getaway :) We stayed in Harvey’s Hotel which is right across Harrah’s Hotel. We originally wanted to stay in Harrah’s Hotel but there were no available rooms for Sunday night that’s why we end up staying in Harvey’s. Anyway, husbee and I had a blast. We ate and drank too much hahaha...Now, I’m looking forward for the next getaway lol.

Wow! Another year has passed by and I can't believe my vacation is almost over already. Baby Carrier

We're going hiking in Yosemite again and this time we're taking our baby. Yay! But since we can't take a stroller to the mountain, I bought me baby slings and baby hip carrier for husbee so he can carry the baby while we're hiking LOL. I got them at very reasonable price online. Actually I just got them in the mail and I love them! Thanks to my dearest friend for telling me about buying these stuffs because I know for sure the baby sling will help me to do the house chores without a crying baby in the house and we can go hiking with the baby hip carrier. We're all set to go hiking now lol. Husbee and I are both excited to take our baby with us. It's going to be a fun-filled family outing in the mountain :)

I feel so bad for the direct tv workers that have to answer the phone to people who are mad because their TV is messed up. Usually it just takes resending a signal to the box or some other small repair, but people can get so worked up over their TV. I worked at the customer service desk in a department store while I was in college so I know what it is like to have to deal with unhappy customers. They seem to get so worked up and usually are very rude and unpleasant to have to talk to. The worst is when they start getting personal and putting you down. As if you have anything to do with why they are having this problem. I would usually want to tell them I was sorry that their life was so pathetic that they would get that upset over such small issues and that they need to focus on what is really important in life. Of course there were like 5 sentences that I was trained to say and would be fired if I strayed from those sentences. That was a very eyeopening job.

It's a gorgeous state park...

Yesterday, my friends and I went to Point Lobos in Carmel. It was so relaxing out there. It is such a gorgeous state park with amazing views and fun hikes. My friends and I brought some food and drinks with us. The park is equipped with picnic tables, park benches in the parking lot areas where people are allowed to picnic otherwise no picnicking. They even have adirondack chairs in one of the trails by the beach. I think they need to add playground equipment for the kids to play somewhere in the area :)

All I can say is that the place is amazingly beautiful. We did hike for few hours and took pictures and rest breaks of course. There's an information station with restrooms at the intersection of North Shore Trail and South Shore Trail, staffed by super duper nice volunteers. There you can read brochures about all the different kinds of local wildlife, and even touch the pelts of harbor seals, sea lions, and otters which was awesome I think. Walking from the information station to Whalers Cove including Cypress Grove Trail and Old Veteran Trail, where you can see the oldest cypress tree in the reserve took about an hour. On Cabin Trail, you'll see the Whalers Cove museum, which is set up in a small, aging cabin -also staffed by friendly volunteers who let you look around at your own pace instead of launching into a history lesson. We also went to Bird Island trail and China Cove where you can seat and enjoy the white sand beach (where my friends and I stayed for hours lol)

Stun Gun or Taser?

I was debating if I should buy a stun gun or a taser for husbee and wow! I found a place that sells them all. I was a little confused which one is better between a stun gun and a taser but good thing the website explained it very well. So I have decided to buy a taser for him.

Horseback Riding

Few more days till I can breath and sleep normally :) I can't wait!! I want to do something fun on my break. Maybe horse back riding in the beach? but I'm not sure if there's any horseback riding on winter time. Maybe it's too cold for the horses lol.

Sometime last year, husbee and I with couple of friends went on a horseback riding adventure. It was fun but I got the slowest pony among the group hahaha. I remember the guy asked if it was my first time and I said yes, that's why he gave me the slowest pony and husbee got the fastest horse who likes to run :0) It was nice because they had to evaluate to decide if the rider is a beginner, medium, or competent and experienced rider. The guy who was the trail guide or instructor had to choose a horse or pony which suits the age, size, experience, riding ability and any known disability or limitation of the rider to ensure their customer's safety when riding their horses/pony. I even had to wear children's Tipperary Eventer vest and other horseback riding gear but husbee did not hahah! I was like what the heck! But I guess it was for my own safety. I want to do it again in one of these days and have a faster and energetic horse this time :0)

Yay! I have 3 more weeks left until winter break for over a month. I can't wait to just relax and not have to worry about reading tons of pages and doing homeworks lol at least for few weeks. All day today, I didn’t do anything related to school. I give myself a break sometimes. So what did I do? I watched movies all day, cooked homemade gravy using mom in law’s recipe, and read different kinds of articles.

I read one article that I found interesting that talks about stop loss underwriting which I didn’t know anything about. So I did some research into it for me to understand in depth information. Black Friday Shopping

I know I mentioned this before that I love shopping for cute and sexy shoes. Now, I’m happy because it’s almost Thanksgiving and there are a lot of sales for fashion footwear especially the day after thanksgiving. I’m super excited because I will be going shopping with some friends. I will for sure buy some cute pair of shoes for myself and maybe for husbee as well. I just hope that there will be a lot of size 5 cute shoes available in the store that I can choose from on black Friday.

Going shopping on a black Friday this year is a first time thing for me since husbee doesn’t really like shopping in a very crowded place plus we’re always at my parents in law’s house every year but this year we won’t go to my in laws house till Saturday. I know it’s going to be so crowded that day so I’m going to make a list of things to buy ahead of time so that I won’t forget and get overwhelmed when I’m at the store already hahah! I’m going to buy minnetonka shoes and other stuff for my little sister as per her request, purse for my favorite auntie, blowfish shoes for my cousin, and a lot more stuffs to buy. To make the story short, I will be buying presents for my loved ones back home which they will get sometime for next year :)

As I was reading earlier today about bariatric surgery, I found a short article for some tips for people after getting bariatric surgery for successful outcome.

In one study that examined patients having weight loss surgery, as many as 8.5% of patients either developed or had a history of acute kidney injury. Risk factors included higher body mass index, hyperlipidemia, and use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers.

A critical component to success is long-term follow-up: not just until the incisions are healed or even for a few years, but for life. This includes regularly scheduled lab tests, exams, and counseling, and requires a collaborative relationship between the patient’s primary care provider and weight loss surgeon.

It’s unrealistic to think that any medical or surgical procedure is without risk. The weight loss surgery team must clearly communicate the risks and benefits to each patient so that patient can make an informed decision.

Oahu Real Estate

Hawaii is one of my choices of place to live when I retire because of the beautiful beaches that the state has there to offer. I know it’s expensive to live there but husbee and I have 30 years or so to save money to be able to buy for Oahu real estate specifically in the Waikiki area. I just have to make sure that husbee will not spend the savings for something else hahaha.

I was looking into different listings of houses for sale in Oahu and I found properties ranging from small house or condo to a grand estate on the beach for a lot less than what I thought. Christmas time is just around the corner. Time does really flies when we’re having fun. Isn’t it? I feel like this year went by so fast. Next week, Americans will be celebrating Thanksgiving and after that will be Christmas. It means I need to do some shopping for Christmas presents for my family and friends pretty soon and start decorating my house with Christmas decors because it’s my favorite holiday of the year!!!

Talking about presents, I don’t know what to buy for husbee just yet. He has such a long Christmas list this year that makes me confuse which one to buy because most of the stuff he wants are expensive. Maybe I should buy him something that’s not in his list. It's been a while that I haven't been in the mall and doing shopping because of my crazy schedule. I ended up buying some plus size lingerie and sleepwear last night for my mother dear in the Philippines so I can have something to put into my new balikbayan box to send back home and I got something for myself since my birthday is coming up LOL. Sydney Trip

Few more weeks of school then Trip to Blue Mountains. Yay! I soo can't wait. I need to go somewhere where I don't have to worry of my "boyfriends" aka "my nursing books". Blue Mountains is wilderness at its most spectacular, the mountain terrain is alive with incredible wildlife, blooming flora, splendid sheer sandstone cliffs and towering rock formations intercepted by waterfalls -making it one of Australia's must see destinations.

I always say this that going different places or countries is one of my favorite things to do in life and Sydney Australia is one of the places I'm looking forward to explore with husbee. My brother in law who's been in Australia for his school trip told me that there are lots of beautiful breath taking attractions to enjoy and lots of things to do in Sydney. I'm super excited or should I say I'm excited to be over with school and go have fun in Australia.

Types of Kidney Failure

Acure renal failure is a sudden decline in renal function with at least a 50% decrease in glomerular filtration rate. It can occus from decreased blood flow to the kidneys, acute damage to the renal parenchyma, such as from trauma or toxins or conditions that block urine flow. Kidney functions usually returns if the underlying problem resolves.

In contrast, chronic renal failure 0ccurs when disease or another disorder causes progressive destruction of nephrons and loss okf kidney function. Typically, both kidneys are affected, and the patient may notice signs and symptoms when the GFR falls to below 30% of normal. When 90% to 95% of the nephrons stop functioning, the patient is considered to have ESRD (end stage renal disease). Signs and symptoms of uremia develop, leading to hemodynamic instability and potentially fatal complications.

Who is at risk?
The following conditions increase a patient's risk of CRF:

*Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
*Hypertension
*Glomerulonephritis
*Polycystic kidney diease
*Other systemic disease such as sickle cell disease & systemic lupus erythematosus

Have you notice that if you call some businesses they will ask you to answer survey questions after your transaction? UTIs in Older Adults

AGING increases the risk of lower urinary tract infections such as cystitis, and it also may cause changes that mask classis UTI symptoms. Instead of frequency, urgency, and burning udring urination, your older patient may have nonspecific symptoms, such as anorexia, N/V, abdominal pain, or mental status changes. If she's confused or has dementia, she may not be able to describe pain or other symptoms to you. So when assessing her, watch for nonverbal cues and atypical signs and symptoms.
Although UTIs are far more common in younger women than in younger men, the prevalence is similar among older adults. Prostatic hyperplasia, which occurs with aging, increases the likelihood of UTI in me. In older women, the postmenopausal decline in estrogen can contribute to UTI risk.
Predisposing conditions that apply to older people of either sex include previous UTI, altered immunity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases, immobility, reduced fluid intake, antibiotic use, catheterization or other genitourinary instrumentation, presence or urinary tract calculi and sexual activity.
If you suspect your patient has UTI, take a thorough history of past and current genitourinary problems. Have her desribe S/S if she can and ask when they started and what makes them better or worse. Ask of she tried any treatment and if so how well they worked.
During physical examination, take her VS and assess for CVA tenderness and bladder tenderness or fullness. Prepare the patient for a reactal exam to assess rectal tone, impaction and prostate size and characteristics in men. A woman should also undergo a pelvic exam to assess for uterine prolapse, perineal lesions, vaginal discharge, and signs of estrogen deficiency or sexually transmitted diseases.

Being at home a lot since I got sick was pretty bad, but once I got Cannon Satellite it got a little easier. There are actually a lot of really great shows on during the day and my husband comes home after work so it’s not that bad. I like Criminal Minds the most I think because I’ve always wanted to be in the FBI for some reason. I know that sounds crazy but since I was a little girl what really got me going was thinking about being part of a big squad that went into crazy scenes and made it all right. Criminal Minds is cool because they profile people and determine who’s likely to be committing a certain type of crime – they’re always right which I find kind of unlikely but it’s neat to think that there are actually people out there that do this kind of work. Maybe I missed my calling afterall and should have gone into the police force instead of into teaching – who knows!?

COPD Management

Pharmacologic Treatment
The goals of effective COPD management are to relieve signs and symptoms, prevent disease progression, improve exercise tolerance and health status, prevent and treat complications and exacerbations, and reduce mortality. Reaching the goals requires and individualized approach for every patient. To maximixe your patient's quality of life, weigh the benefits against the risks of pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic therapies for each patient.

Pharmacologic therapy for COPD focuses on controlling signs & symptoms and decreasing complications. Bronchodilators, a mainstay for symptom management, include beta-agonists, anticholinergics and methylxanthines. The medications are typically prescribed for patients in this order, escalating the number of medications used for treatment as needed, based on signs and symptoms, presence of comorbidities, and the patient's general health.

Non-pharmacologic Treatment
Pulmonary rehabilitation involves a multidisciplinary team approach that includes assessment, exercise training, nutrition counseling, smoking cessation, and education for the patient. Patients with COPD at all disease stages benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation programs lasting at least 6 weeks; the longer the program, the better the results.

Oxygen therapy is usually reserved for patients with end-stage COPD and can be used as long-term continuous therapy, during activity, and to relieve SOB. The goal of oxygen therapy is to achieve an SaO2 of 90% or greater. The prescription for O2 must specify liters/minute, method of delivery, and duration at rest, during activity, and while sleeping. Long- term administration of O2 in patients with end-stage COPD and respiratory failure has demonstrated prolonged survival. However, like other COPD treatments, it doesn't reverse the disease process.

Even though I have such a very hectic schedule with school, I still find ways to do stuff that I like to do for myself like gardening, painting my nails, watching movies etc... Tell me I'm weird but sometimes I watch movies while I study. I like to watch thriller movies that give me serious palpitations while watching hahaha. Talking about movies, there's this new FX program called Untitled Jersey City Project which is unique in a sense that it’s a work-in-progress television drama with out-of-sequence scenes, dimly defined characters, unresolved plot developments and perhaps most importantly for those who can handle it – a lot of room for your imagination.

The story is set amidst the fast-developing Jersey City waterfront, just across the river from Manhattan. A shining new city is being built on the edge of this gritty town. But while the glass office towers and condos are sleek and new, the rules of the game haven’t changed one bit. Everyone here has something to gain – money, fame, power. Or they can lose big. Or they could end up dead.

I honestly didn’t recognize some of the actors but I noticed the very nice 2012 Audi A6 car that is featured in each episode. The story itself has enough action to make you want to continue watching all the episodes.

Husbee and I both love to go camping, 4wheeling and stay in the wilderness for few days. We go camping a few times in every year but lately I haven't been able to go with him since I'm busy with school. Last time husbee went camping with friends, our canvas tent got ripped so now we need to buy a new one. That's one of our lists of things to buy. I'm asking if you need help with interpreting ABG's because I was once confused about this topic especially the partial or full compensation during our class discussion but I found a video on youtube that really helps me to understand a lot more better. Just remember ROME.

R=respiratory
O=opposite
M=metabolic
E=equal

Normal values: pH= 7.35-7.45 PaCo2= 35-45 mm Hg HCo3= 22-26 mEq/L

For example:

pH = 7.37
PaCO2 = 60 mm Hg
HCO3 = 38 mEq/L

Interpretation: Fully compensated respiratory acidosis because pH is normal due to compensation going on with the respiratory PaCO2 value being high.

Mindless Behavior Concert

Few weeks ago, husbee and I went to a concert and we had a blast! Now, we're planning to go to an R&B boy band concert called Mindless Behavior. This band is best known for the singles "My Girl" (their first album was released on September 20, 2011) and "Mrs. Right" produced by Walter Millsap. Millsap is a famous music producer who brought together Princeton, Ray Ray, Roc Royal, and Prodigy in 2008. I heard that these teenagers are such great performers. They can sing and dance really well on the floor lol. I so can't wait to see them in one of their concerts and tours. So last night after talking to few of my friends about husbee and I planning to go to one of Mindless Behavior concerts, my friends decided that they want to go with us too:) It's going to be a lot of fun for sure! We haven't buy tickets yet because we're going to buy all at once so that we will have same row seating and they all want me to decide the date since I have a hectic school schedule. I guess this coming weekend when I'm not busy I will order the tickets. Yehey!

Most girls love shoes. Who wouldn’t be right? I have to admit I’m one of those shoe lovers. That’s one of my favorite things to buy for myself and Jessica Simpson is one of the brands of shoes that I really love to wear. They usually have long high heels but they’re very comfortable to wear. I can wear them all night long when I go clubbing with my friends and I don’t get feet blisters.

The problem I have with buying shoes is that my shoe size. I wear size 5 and when I go to the stores, I have trouble finding size 5 shoes on the display that are cute and pretty. Yes! There are size 5 shoes in the mall but they are for kids. Although kids’ shoes are cheaper, however they don’t look good on me. It is sometimes frustrating but what can I do? I was born with small feet LOL. That’s why, most of the time I buy my shoes online because I don’t have to deal with the crowd plus there are more varieties and brands I can choose from. Stupid me! When I got to the school parking lot, I came to find out that my rear tire in the passenger side was flat. Thanks God I got to school safe.

During my lunch break, I called AAA road service for help! The AAA guy came to fix my car approximately within 15 minutes after I called. I think that was awesome!!! The guy checked all my tires, put air in them and the right rear tire has a hole so he replaced the spare tire with it. I’m glad I didn’t cancel our AAA road service account that we pay every year:)

CPAs make good money but it isn't that easy. The schooling part is I know is not easy because I took accounting when I was still in the Motherland. It was hard but I was enjoying it since I like numbers and calculations. I just didn't finish it because I came in the United States and when I got here, I changed my major into nursing instead.

Some of my friends in the Philippines who are now CPAs still don't have jobs, some works in the mall as cashiers and few works as accounting teachers in the University. There's only very few that I heard who already had their own office as a certified public accountant. Kudos to them!
One of my close friends is currently taking the CPE (continuing professional education) course online as part of CPA’s mandatory educational requirements and to keep her up to date on ever-evolving rules, regulations and business trends. It makes her life so much easier plus she gets free CPE credits for doing it online. It's really amazing that we can do pretty much everything online nowadays.

Why do onions make us cry?

While I was cutting onions earlier tonight, it brought me to tears LOL. It doesn't just happen tonight but everytime I cut onions. I was wondering what's in the onion that makes me cry. So after cooking, due to my curiosity I searched online about it and I found out that onions like other plants are made of cells that when we cut the onion, we break the cells causing the release of an enzyme called Lachrymatory-factor synthase. This enzyme converts the onion's sulfoxides into sulfenic acid. The sulfenic acid causes the production of propanethiol S-oxide,a volatile sulfur compound that once this reaches our eyes, it irritates them, causing the crying reflex to kick in to flush out the irritants.

To prevent crying when cutting an onion, I also found out to cut it under a running tap of cold water. The sulfur compounds dissolve in water and are rinsed down the sink before they reach our eyes. Also to put the onion in the freezer for ten minutes before cutting it. Cold temperatures slow down the reaction between the enzyme and the sulfur compounds so fewer of the burning molecules will reach our eyes.

It was good that I searched about it. Now I know the next time I'll cut onions, I'll definitely do these few steps before cutting them.

Since I was young I really was into the music world. I like to sing karaoke even though my voice is not great...it's not good enough to make it to the American Idol show but hey at least I can sing :) I used to sing in the stage when I was in elementary because I was not shy by then lol. Now that I'm all grown up, I don't think if I will be able to sing in the stage with a lot of people watching me hahaha. Every once in a while I get to practice my singing skills with my good friends from nursing school when they come over my house for a karaoke, eating and drinking session. They always request me to sing the Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Trey Songz, and Aegis songs etc...LOL

Anyway, yesterday when I was driving on my way to school, I turned up the radio in my car listening and singing out loud Trey Songz music. I was so into it that I almost forgot that I have to take an exam when I get to school hahaha. While taking the exam, his music especially the my moment in time was still in my brain :) I'm just so in love with his voice.

To those who don't know Trey Songz, he is a R&B singer and one of the best artists in the music industry. Since his 2005 debut, I Gotta Make It, he has released three more studio albums, including his 2009 gold album Ready and the follow-up Passion, Pain, and Pleasure. In 2009, the singer won a BET Award for Best Male Artist. The following year, he starred in the ten-part BET docu-series My Moment. I wish I can hear him sing live. Maybe one of these days :)

When I met my husbee a few years back, we didn't really talk about getting married right away because I still had to finish my B.S. Accounting degree but he told my family that he loves me and wants to marry me lol. After he spent time with my family and friends, he took me for a date just the two of us and then he took me to a Diamond Mansion Co. jewelry store to look for vintage engagement rings. Ohh my! that store has a lot of celebrity styled engagement rings. I thought he was going to buy me a diamond right then but no I was wrong hahaha. He just took me there to find out the right size of my ring finger because I guess he was planning to buy me one but didn't know my size and didn't want to ask me :)

One day he came to visit me again, he went to my place and spent time with me and my family for a few days. One night he told me that he wants to talk to my parents privately. To make the story short, he asked permission from my parents, got down on his knees and proposed to me right in front of them with the ring he bought from Diamond Mansion. I really didn't expect it to happen. I was surprised. Until now, I still think it was a very cute proposal that not too many Caucasian does :)

Journey Concert

Last Saturday, I took a break from reading and studying. I didn't do anything related to school at all eventhough knowing that I have an exam Monday which is today lol. Husbee and I left the house early in the morning to go for a movie date, then had lunch/early dinner at Tomi Seafood Buffet and then we went to a Journey Concert in Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. It was a fun date with husbee. I wish we can do it more often :)

Systolic heart failure the most common type occurs in about two-thirds of people with heart failure; the heart is unable to to contract effectively, causing a decrease in both the cardiac output and ejection fraction. (Ejection fraction is a measure of the amount of blood that the ventricles ejects in a single beat relative to the total amount available for the beat. Healthy heart should pump more than 60%). Systolic failure is often referred to as left ventricular systolic failure because the left ventricle is the main pumping chamber. The classic hemodynamic profile shows a low cardiac output, an elevated ventricular filling pressure and elevated systemic vascular resistance. The ejection fraction falls below 40% and tissue perfusion is dimished. The ventricle is usually large and dilated, and becomes overloaded.
A common cause of systolic heart failure is dilated cardiomyopathy though a variety of disorders can affect the contractility of the myocardium and lead to heart failure.

Diastolic heart failure results when the ventricles cannot fill properly. It's associated with left ventricular hypertrophy and systemic hypertension. Both ventricles become stiff and noncompliant, and although the contraction may be effective, the ventricles' inability to relax during diastole impairs ventricular filling. Approximately one-third of people with heart failure have diastolic failure only. Recent studies show that women and elderly people are increasingly presenting with diastolic dysfunction but preserved systolic function.
In the past, a diagnosis of heart failure was often based on decreased ejection fraction. But patients with heart failure may have normal ejection fractions and cardiac output, yet still manifest signs of heart failure. Husbee and I are planning to go for a short vacation when fall semester is over. We talked about different places that we both want to go to but the problem is money hahaha. Our financial is tight nowadays due to his expensive 4wheeling parts that we needed to buy so that he's friend can finish building his truck as soon as possible. There are still more parts that we need to buy though and they're expensive. Oh well this is life.

We wanted to go to Vegas again but we changed our plan due to our financial issue because every time we go to Sin City we end up spending a lot of money in gambling. We decided to just go somewhere that we can't gamble in different casinos lol. So we are considering ourselves to go to Cape Cod to explore the beautiful attractions in that place. Last night, I checked into Cape Cod rental to see how much it will cost us to stay there so we don't have to stay in hotels. I'm crossing my fingers that we can go there because I still have few weeks of school. I guess I'll just have to wait and see :) Husbee said if we can't go anywhere this time, he will make it up to me after the 4wheeling truck is finished. Oh my goodness!

My nursing instructor for this semester really likes to have a very long detailed power points so I use a lot of papers and inks for my printer this time. Are you planning to move out of state, somewhere nice like in South Carolina? Well, I'm just asking because one of my girlfriends bought a house there and she's planning to rent it out till her husband comes back from deployment in Iraq. The house is pretty new, fully furnished, and have a really huge oceanview backyard to enjoy while BBQing. My friend and her husband bought that house for a pretty reasonable price through the Real Estate In Charleston SC. For now, the house is empty but my friend goes there every once a while and stays there for few days. She just doesn't like to stay there longer because she doesn't have any family or friends out there. She will only move there for good when her husband comes back from deployment.

Favorite Holiday!

Christmas is coming up in a few months. Wow! time does really fly when we're having fun. Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year especially in the Philippines because I can feel the spirit of Christmas early on September. Some people are already asking christmas presents even if it's not December yet :) Sometimes I wish to spend christmas in the Motherland but just not in my hometown because people will be asking or begging for christmas presents hahaha. It's not that I'm selfish but because I don't have money to buy stuff for everyone in town especially that I'm jobless lol.
Anyway it's already October and I'm hoping that I will be able to send a balikbayan box within this month to the Motherland so that my relatives will get their custom t-shirts I ordered online as my Christmas presents for them. I bought different sizes for my aunts and uncles so I'm crossing my fingers that it will fit for each of them. I hope they will like them.

Technology is changing almost everyday that some people have to change phones everytime new ones come out. For example the Apple, now they have this iPhone 4S newly release in the market and some people will surely be changing their phones from iPhone 3G to iPhone 4S lol. Long time ago we didn't have computers yet so we had to use typewriters and now 90% of the population have computers in their houses already.

Yesterday I wore my lab coat to the skills lab and I noticed that it's getting tight hahah. Oh my goodness! I gained weight. I need to buy a new lab coat or lose weight but I'm too lazy to work out hahah. In the summer, I worked out a lot but lately I'm super lazy so now my scrubs are tight including my lab coats. This is not a good sign lol.

However, I just found out this morning that I don't have to buy because one of my good friends told me to not buy anymore because she's going to give me her lab coats since we wear the same size anyway. Steve Jobs Death

Steve Jobs who founded and ran Apple died yesterday at a very young age of 56.

It amazed me how smart he is! He moved technology from garages to pockets, took entertainment from discs to bytes and turned gadgets into extensions of the people who use them.
Jobs had battled cancer in 2004 and underwent a liver transplant in 2009 after taking a leave of absence for unspecified health problems. He took another leave of absence in January -- his third since his health problems began -- and resigned in August according to Fox News.

It reminds me that life is too short. It doesn't matter if we are rich or not. If it's our time, it's our time. RIP Steve Jobs!

All day today my clinical group had a simulation for 12 hours. Now, I'm super exhausted. It was fun but it got a little bit boring towards the end of the day because we were all tired and wanted to go home :) It was fun in a sense that our instructor gave us different scenarios of different patients to take care of and then we had to act for our role but we tried to make it as real as possible. When it was my turned to be the primary nurse, I was freaking out because my patient coded! I had to call code blue and started CPR. Anyway so much for that lol.

Husbee is a member of what they call "clamping club or ECV". It's an organization that I don't exactly know how to explain hahaha but I know it's a club just for guys. Every once a while they get together and guess what they're doing? Of course drinking and some other activities. During their get together, they have to wear red shirts or else they will be punished and if you want to join their club you will get initiated. Husbee is so obsess about this club that he collects all kinds of label pins and put them all in his clamping leather jacket with a possum skin in the back :)

One time they had an event that the wives were invited so I went and I noticed that most of the members are old hahah. It was nice though because I found out that their organization is not all about drinking but they also contribute some good deeds to the community. I'm thinking to myself there should be something like this for women only as well :)

Personally, I don't like having a carpeted floor that's why last year my husbee and I decided to have a wood floor in our living room and kitchen. Now I like it so much better but it's hard to keep it clean:) The bedrooms are still carpeted though but we decided to keep it that way. I talked to my husbee about upgrading our carpet in all bedrooms when we have the budget and he agreed to it but for now I think we just need a professionally done carpet cleaning. One of my friends, told me about a very good quality of carpet cleaning austin. Reminiscing my Adventure to Disney World

Every end of the semester, husbee always takes me to a fun place and most of the time we go to Vegas to party. We gamble, drink and go strip club hopping while in Vegas. That's because we don't have kids yet.

Last year summer, he took me to a hot and humid weather state of Florida hahaha. My adventure to Walt Disney World Resort last year summer with husbee was really great and major fun-filled trip despite the weather. It was my first time in Florida and I was amazed of how big the Disney World compared to Disneyland in Los Angeles, California. We stayed at one of Disney's Resorts the whole time we were there. It was nice because our hotel was not too far from the parks. We had to ride a bus from park to park but it was not bad at all. There are six parks which include Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney's Holywood Studios, Epcot and two water parks. We spent our time one park at a time and kicked back some other time in the hotel pool where we stayed. Husbee and I had fun riding those fun scary rides in Disney World. I definitely want to take my kids there someday. I just have to remember to bring a lot of mosquito repellents because last year I came home with lots of mosquito bites :)

It's Boots Time

The weather is starting to get cold already and I kind of miss the sunshine lol. Where did the summer goes? Well there's not much sun where my school is located so I didn't get to enjoy the sunshine much. I always go to school with pants, sweatshirts and tennis shoes or sometimes boots because it's freaking cold in class or even outside the building. I guess it's the time of the year to buy new boots hahaha. This coming winter time, I'm thinking of having a pair of corral boots :) I never had a pair of corral boots because I felt like I'm not going to look good wearing those kinds of boots but this year I'm asking to myself why not give it a try? I always see cowgirls wear those kind of boots and they look really great on them. I guess it's just a matter of how I carry myself when I'm wearing those boots.
I checked for corral boots prices online and holy crap they're not cheap! However, the quality looks like it's going to last forever :) I guess I better start saving some $$$ for the corral boots I want.

Coronary artery disease is a type of blood vessel disorder that is included in the general category of atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is often referred to as hardening of the arteries. Although this condition can occur in any artery in the body, the fatty deposits have a preferrence for the coronary arteries. Arteriosclerotic heart disease, cardiovascular heart disease, ischemic heart disease and coronary artery disease are all term used to describe this disease process.

There are risk factors for coronary artery disease (CAD):

1. Nonmodifiable risk factors - age, gender, ethnicity family history, and genetic inheritance

2. Modifiable risk factors - elevated serum lipids, hypertension, tobacco use, physical inactivity, obesity, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, psychologis states and homocysteine levels.

As you may notice, there are a lot of modifiable risk factors for CAD. It means that there a lot of things we can do toward our healthy being by changing our lifestyle and adapting health promoting behaviors.

Below are some of the health promoting behaviors in decreasing risk factors for CAD:

* Reduce salt intake.
* Stop smoking.
* Control or reduce weight.
* Perform physical activity regularly.
* Reduce total fat intake.
* Adjust total caloric intake to achieve and maintain ideal body weight.
* Plan time for adequate rest and sleep.
* Change eating patterns and habits.
* Avoid large, heavy meals.

Few of the items that I want to buy next month for the house are shaggy rugs and curtains. I want to replace the old rugs and curtains we have in the other living room with shaggy rugs, new curtains and paint the wall to change the look of the room. Those are the things that I want to buy but of course they're not my priorities as of the moment. I have to pay bills first when I get husbee's monthly paycheck and decide from there. I can't just keep buying and buying and not paying the bills because husbee will fire me for that hahaha. Anyhow, I've been browsing in the internet and looking for a best place where I can buy rugs and oh boy I didn't know that there are so much different types of rugs which include aspen rugs, designer rugs, classic rugs, modern rugs, wool rugs, sisal and hemp rugs, budget rugs, shaggy rugs, sheepskin rugs, round rugs, leather rugs etc...

Early this afternoon while watching T.V., I browsed online again for websites that offer different types of rugs with different styles and various colors of best quality products. So now I know where to order my shaggy rugs in the next few weeks :)

Shopping as stress reliever

Goodmorning stalkers! It's Monday and I'm not looking forward for this week at all but I have to stay positive, focus and do what I need to do eventhough deep inside I just want to be a couch potatoe this week hahaha.

This week I'm a little bit stressed out related to midterm is coming up. The thing I like to do when I'm stressed out or feeling overwhelmed is to do some window shopping or real shopping online:) Well over the weekend, I did some online shopping for intimate apparel and I got some sexy lingeries and bras for a reasonable price. I got a $15 off since I spent more than $100 plus free shipping. Just few hours ago, I got an email saying that my items are being shipped. I expect to get them in the mailbox within this week or early nextweek. Yay! I can't wait to wear them! Thanks God it's Friday and week 6 out of 18 is over. Yay! 1/3 of the semester is done and I survived lol.
Few days ago, I did a child and development out rotation and I end up going to a preschool class. At first, I was like what the heck! But at the end, I love it because I love kids and I had fun with them. I just don't see myself as a preschool teacher hahaha. What amazed me was that their classroom decorations are really nice and they have a lot of preschool supplies in there. They have a lot of educational toys as well that the kids can play with. It reminded me when I was in preschool except that our room was really small and didn't have much decorations around our classroom and we had to go outside to play :) Ohhhh I'm just reminiscing my younger days.

Anyway, this weekend is going to be a fun weekend for me. NOT! There will be an airshow in Salinas but too bad I have a lot of homeworks to finish and I need to study for the skills midterm. Grrrr! but it's life. No pain no gain.

Is it party time yet?

Wow! time really does fly. In a little over a week will be October already and I've got a few invitations for birthday parties in just a month lol. In about two weeks, my friend is throwing a double birthday party for her son and daughter's birthday. She invited me to go but too bad I can't because I will be in school all day. I would love to go so I can eat some lechon (roasted pig) hahaha but I just don't want to take a risk of missing any school days. I told her I can go to her house the day before the birthday party since I don't have school that day to help her pick up some birthday party supplies to decorate her house for the party and drop off my gifts for the kids. However, my friend was kind of hesitant to say yes because she doesn't want me to drive 100 miles to just help her decorate. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait till she decides she needs my help or maybe I'll just give her a surprise visit on the weekends when I'm off of school.

Anyway, since for sure I can't go to the birthday party to bring gifts and balloons etc. I decided to just post it here hahaha.

Let's Explore Berlin

In my previous post, I mentioned that Germany is one of the countries I want to go to explore specifically the capital city called Berlin. According to Berlin travel guide, Berlin is the largest city in Germany and has a population of approximately 4.2 million within its metropolitan area (3.4 million people within the city limits). It is best known for its historical associations as the German capital, for its lively nightlife, for its many cafes, clubs, and bars, and for its numerous great museums, palaces, and other sites of historic interest.

Wow it sounds like there are so much insteresting stuffs to do in Berlin. I just don't know if husbee and I can afford to spend time for a few weeks over there to go explore their museums, palaces, clubs and bars etc. I'm sure to stay there for a week won't be enough time to go see everything what Berlin has to offer. If we go for a month, we might have to rent apartments in Berlin because it's cheaper than staying in hotels. One of my friends who have been in Berlin, Germany told me that if I'm planning to go there I should check into different Holiday Rentals in the area ahead of time so I can get some good deals. I wish I'm rich so I can go fly there now hahaha. I can't wait to go there and who knows when it is :)

Ugly Shoes :)

I bought 2 pairs of shoes of the same styles but different colors (brown & black). Something I can wear comfortably when I go in the skills lab since we are not allowed to wear open toe shoes. I bought them online because I read the reviews and people are saying they're very comfortable. The price was not bad either. When I got them in the mail, I showed them to husbee and the first thing he said was, "These are ugly shoes" :) Oh boy! I was going to return them but they're very comfy to wear so I decided to just keep them. Who cares what husbee thinks because I'm going to be the one wearing them not him lol and if I will not like it anymore I'll sell it on Ebay.

Ohhh stress go away! All I'm thinking right now is to go for a vacation. I hate reading tons of pages and my brain is overloaded!! Going for a cruise vacation is such a good idea right now. Actually as I'm writing this post, I'm checking into carnival cruises but it is so impossible for me to go because of my hectic schedule with school. I just want to go somewhere and don't have to worry about all the readings,critical thinking homeworks, and care plans lol. How can it be possible?

Back in March 2008, husbee and I with the family (mother's side) all went for a cruise vacation to Mexico. We went to Acapulco, Manzanillo, Zihuatanejo, and Ixtapa and we all had a great time. I missed one week of school since we were in Mexico for 8 days but that was ok because I was still taking pre reqs for nursing at that time. Now that I'm in the nursing program, it's a whole different story. I can't miss more than 3 days or they will kick me out from the program and missing 1 day is like missing class for a week. Oh well I guess I'll just have to suck it up for the next few months. I hope I can survive this time.

Goodmorning Alligators!

Goodmorning alligators! I know it's Saturday and I wake up so early to review my school stuff for my exam on Monday. Later this afternoon, we're going to have a family reunion on the father side of husbee's family. It's going to be fun since more people are coming than last year. There will be people that I will be meeting for the very first time :) Good times! lol...Dang I'm still so sleepy but I'm fighting with my eyes to open and my brain to focus with reviewing my school stuff and NOT blogging hahaha. Aja! I can do this! See you later alligators!!!

Planning a Vacation in my Dreams

To travel and visit different places or countries is one of my favorite things to do in life but for now budget doesn't allow it just yet since husbee is the only one working. Hopefully one of these days when I get a nursing job. One of the places that I consider of going is Calgary. Just this morning, I was checking into Calgary rentals to see how much is it to rent a cabin, town homes or apartments in that area because we might stay there for a couple of months. I think it will happen in twenty years from now lol.

Aside from Calgary, I want to go to Paris, Italy, Germany, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, Hongkong and too many other countries to mention lol. Maybe next year summer husbee and I will be able to go in one of these places but if not, I can wait. We will see how the budget goes next year :)

The title means So happy it's Thursday! I'm happy because week 5 out of 18 is almost over :) I so can't wait for this to be over. Yesterday, was very interesting and super busy in the hospital especially the floor where I was assigned for. I got to do a lot of skills so when I got home, I was like a vegetable in the couch haha. I was super exhausted from a long ass 12 hour shift but I had fun with all my patients :) It's all worth it to see patients getting better and have a smile on their faces. I sooo love what I'm doing.
